Busted out a nice mini-brick tonight, consisting of a 15k cycling session followed immediately by a 5k run. (I like using kilometers…seems like I went further)
Got a cool in race pic from my first triathlon. Almost looks like I know what I am doing except I am actually just visualizing a frosty cold beer at the finish line:

It was a cycling night tonight and pumped out 18 miles in about an hour. Keeping that pace wasn’t too bad, but it will be much different during the Ironman when I have to do it for 6 hours straight.
Having a really tough time deciding if I should invest in a wet suit to start training with it. My fear is that as I lose more weight, by the time I am ready for the Ironman, it may not fit right. I really do not want one that would be too tight now, or too loose later.

Great workout tonight. Jammed through a 5 mile run like it was nothing. Would have run longer but just had too much other stuff to get done tonight. Started to feel the endorphin rush after about 20 mins and I just coasted through without a problem.
Had an awesome meeting with JD Clockadale today. His input was really helpful and I plan to seek his advice more often in the future. JD really has the right attitude about what the Ironman is all about. His personal story was very motivating.
My buddy John also signed up for the Peachtree Triathlon…so way to go John! Looking forward to doing the triathlon and sharing the experience with him.

Not able to get in a workout today due to getting home a little late and doing a few house projects.
Really looking forward to next week as I will be able to get in several multi-hour workouts. Looking forward to the week long stay-cation for a low-stress week of fun and exercise.

Tried a new style of run tonight to mix things up. Decided to do a sprint (sprint for me anyway) at 6mph to see how long I could keep up the faster pace.
I made it for about 30 mins and right about 3 miles. I really need to keep up that pace for about an hour so I think I will keep running at an increased pace and shoot for going longer each time.

Lost 2.4lbs this week and achieved another milestone…total weight-loss is over 20lbs now!
Got in a 70 min run today but still feeling guilty that I didn’t log more hours this week. Oh well, nothing I can do except to not let myself slack off this week. Looking forward to meeting JD on Tuesday and get some training tips and guidance. Need to be sure to ask him about in race strategies (eating, hydration, etc.) because that as much as anything will help me succeed.
Current Weight: 196.8 lbs
Average Weight Loss: 2.6 lbs per week
Total Weight Loss: 20.2 lbs

Decided to go another day without a workout other than playing golf today. I really feel bad that I blew off my workout today and while I know it’s not the end of the world, missing workouts has got to stop.
I think doing the triathlon gave me a lot of confidence, but I need to realize that the Sprint Tri is NOT the Ironman and that I have a long way to go to get ready.
I have a week of vacation after this week, and I plan to get in some very serious workouts during those days. I can’t stop now and need to get my ass into gear.

Moderate workout today. 30 minutes of cycling followed up by push-ups and sit-ups. I think I need to start incorporating more upper body and core work as was suggested by a previous Ironman Finisher.
Going to take tomorrow off and then try for two straight days of 120 minute workouts on Saturday and Sunday.
