Week 25 / Day 175 : Summary

Pretty good week of training.  Focused on getting outside for my runs and I feel that I was pretty successful at that.

Today’s goal was a 17 miler, but I quickly realized I had a little flaw in that plan.  Unlike a run in a triathlon, I wouldn’t have the benefit of run support with water and food along the way.

I hydrated myself before the run and headed out the door with my water bottle filled with Gatorade.  Typically, I consume a water bottle in about an hour so I figured I would do about 6 miles outside, then finish up on the mill at home.  Again, not the original plan, but it would have to do.

After heading out from the house for about 3.25 miles, I turned around and logged 6.5 miles outside.  Once I was at home, I did another 3.5 miles on the treadmill for a total of 10 miles.  Not what I had originally planned, but a 10 mile run is still respectable.

Next weekend will be my last chance for a long run as I will probably start tapering my workouts from that point on.  Ironman Florida is less than 4 weeks away!

Day 174 : Summary

Quick 2 mile run tonight, just as a primer for tomorrow’s long run.  Shooting for a 15 mile run outside tomorrow.  Looking forward to it…kinda.

Day 173 : Summary

Taking the night off to rest.  The plan for the next couple of days is going to be a short run tomorrow, then I am going for 15 mile run on Sunday.  Wish me luck!

Day 172 : Summary

Decided to do a little core workout tonight. Going to try for a really long run this weekend.  Family is out of town so no excuses for not getting in a lot of workout time.

Can’t stop thinking about Ironman Florida, especially since Ironman World Championship in Kona is on Saturday.  On that note, signed up for the lottery to  participate in the 2010 World Championship…kind of a longshot, but hey, you can’t win if you don’t play!<

Day 171 : Summary

No workout tonight…it’s Triathlete.FM show night!

JD and I are really having fun doing our weekly show and we’re getting some great guests to talk with us.  This week we had Matt Russ from The Sport Factory and learned a lot about the coaching world.

Day 170 : Summary

Sad state of affairs.  Missed out on the U2 concert tonight to get some work done and get in a workout.

Didn’t feel like working out at all tonight but forced myself to get some cycling time in.  Yet another workout that I’m glad I didn’t blow off.

Day 169 : Summary

So I headed out for an outside run tonight and it was a good run.  A little misty outside and my clothes got a bit wet, but no rain to speak of.

It was an easy 3.5 miles and I felt strong through the entire run.  It’s funny how the first 15-20 minutes I really didn’t feel like being out there, but after getting warmed up, the rest of the run was almost fun?  Scary.

Week 24 / Day 168 : Summary

Pretty easy week of workouts following the 70.3.  I really thought I was going to be able to get back into working out sooner, but the body didn’t want any part of it.

My buddy JD strongly recommended taking a week off so I don’t feel so bad take it easy this week.  Next week should prove to be more productive and I look forward to some outside running.

Day 167 : Summary

An absolutely beautiful day for a ride today, so I did my typical 17 mile course.  Allergies have been bugging me a bit the past week or so, but other than that it was a nice ride.

Excluding any radical weather issues, going to do an outside run tomorrow, the first of many to come.

Day 166 : Summary

Ok…family stuff to do so no workout.  Probably good, I could use just a smidgen more rest.
