Why an Ironman?
Over the past 20 years, I had transitioned myself from a captain on the high school soccer team, to first string couch potato. Setting goals like “lose 15 lbs” or “work out 3 times a week” were just never enough of a challenge to truly motivate a lifestyle change. One day, I decided to take a huge leap and set a goal for himself that would undoubtedly force me to make a complete lifestyle change.
In April of 2009, I set out to become an Ironman Finisher and signed up to participate in Ironman Florida 2009 in Panama City Beach. This goal was the catalyst to becoming totally in love with all things triathlon. That love has been bittersweet since I have grown extremely passionate about the sport, yet a little saddened that I didn’t find its rewards many years ago.
I have since completed the 70.3 in Augusta, GA on September 26th, 2009 and Ironman Florida on November 7th, 2009 along with a numerous smaller races on the way. For 2010, I will be returning to Augusta to hopefully improve on my 70.3 time!
