Week 20 : Day 6

Holy cow…I can’t believe how long it’s been since I have blogged.  A lot has happened in the past few months and I have really gotten away from blogging.  Short story is that I got a great job opportunity and relocated to San Antonio.  Over the past several weeks, I have moved (just myself…family to follow after school is out) and I am pretty much settled now.

Today was great day because I finally found a great place to ride my bike.  It’s a 30 minute trip, but it’s a perfect course to train for IMFL.  The body is a bit sore but I am eager to get back out there!  The only minor downside to the ride is that some of the rural roads are a bit rough.

I am very excited to dive back into some more serious training now that I have my life a little more steady-state.

Week 12 : Summary

Ok, I admit it…I fell off the wagon this week.  Only a couple of workouts and didn’t eat as well as I could have.  Having a party on Friday set me back a good bit in the weight-loss area.

Not going to stress about this week at all.  I am still very focused and there is still a long time until my first event in March.

Week 11 : Summary

Ok…not the best of weeks, but still made forward progress on the weight-loss front.  Less than 5lbs to be under 200 once again!

I had a minor medical procedure on Thur with a prep all day Wed, so that really affected the workout schedule.  Betting planning would have probably allowed me to get in a couple more workouts, but I’ll just charge ahead and put this not-so-great week behind me.

Got in a great 3 mile run today at least…felt really strong for the first half but bonked a bit towards the end.  I thought my time on the treadmill was done, but this damn weather just doesn’t want to cooperate.  Go away cold weather!!!

Week 10 : Weekly Summary

Another great week down and I am once again pleased with what I accomplished this week.

Weight-loss to this point is 7lbs which is about 3.5lbs per week.  In the past, I targeted around 2lbs per week so I am really happy with how things are going.  The great thing is that I am not starving myself or doing ridiculous workouts.  Can’t wait to be under 200lbs soon!

Did just under an hour on the bike this afternoon and I am incredibly anxious to get back outside.  A good deal of the snow has melted which means I should be able to venture outside for a run tomorrow.  However, my legs are pretty tired from two days of running/biking so tomorrow may be a rest day.

On to week 11!

Week 9 : Weekly Summary

I am incredibly happy with my progress this week, even with being out of town for my grandfather’s funeral.

The week consisted of 5 great workouts and I really did a good job of eating right every single day. My weight-loss is right on track, but I won’t have the official total until tomorrow because I am only weighing in during the morning and I want to stick with my Withings scale readings. Best guess is about 5 lbs. for the week.

Here’s to another good week next week!

Week 8 Update

So the holidays are finally over and the time for serious training begins.  I am so incredibly uncomfortable in my own skin right now and can’t wait to get some of this weight off as soon as possible.

In an effort to be totally open with my progress, I am providing links to track all of my activities (via RunKeeper) and monitor my weight loss thanks to a really neat scale from Withings. I decided to use the RunKeeper Pro app for iPhone because it is free through January and it actually has a lot of neat features.  Look for the links on the right navigation bar under “Follow My Progress”.  This is going to be great motivation for me over the coming months knowing that all of my workouts and weight-loss are out for the world to see.

Starting tomorrow, I am going to go back to daily updates since it really helps keep me focused and disciplined on training.

Week 7 Update

Finally feeling better this week and it was nice to get back to working out. Finished up the week with a couple of great workouts and ready to keep the momentum going into next week.

Going to purchase a Withings Wifi Scale to start tracking body stats. It will be interesting to track everything as I get into a serious training regimen in January. It looks pretty cool and automatically syncs with an iPhone app I have. Love my tech!

Week 6 Update

Ugh. What a horrible week.

Only managed 1 workout since I have been sick since Monday. What made matters worse was that I was traveling on business Tues-Fri. Not fun. It’s been a long time since I have held on to an illness this long. I am one of those people that don’t really get sick that often, and when I do, it typically passes in a day or so.

Despite being out of commission, I did my best to keep my head in triathlon mode this week. It started off with reading the latest Triathlete Magazine cover to cover. There were some great training plans and workout ideas that will come in very useful over the coming months. I ended the week by watching the 2010 Ironman World Championship in Kona on Saturday. Of course I saved the show on the DVR to enjoy it another 100 times before IMFL.

Looking forward to next week…as always.

Week 5 Update

Another average week in the books. I got in three decent workouts, but didn’t really do that great with eating well. With being on the go so much this week, food choices were based on speed/convenience rather than the healthy option.

I decided to get our bikes out of the garage and move them into the basement. Going to take the opportunity to begin getting them cleaned up for the season. They’re actually in pretty good shape, but just need a little attention here and there. Every time I see my bike, it makes me want to go for a ride so badly…soon, very soon. While I really don’t enjoy riding my bike on the trainer, I may just have to bite the bullet.

Week 4 Update

Only worked out once this week.  Recovering from the blisters on my feet, work and getting ready for the holidays seemed to steal a lot of free time.  Poor excuses but I vow to make next week a good one.

It’s gotten really cold so it looks like I am going to be relegated to indoor activities for a month or so.  Maybe we’ll have a warmer day that will allow me to get an outdoor run in.  I just hate looking at my bike…dying to go for a ride!
