Week 21 : Day 2
Thought it was time to get some running in so I found a window to get in 3 miles in between doing some work and laundry.
I can’t remember the last time I felt like I had this much energy and looked forward to working out!

I can’t remember the last time I felt like I had this much energy and looked forward to working out!
Even though I was still pretty sore from yesterday’s ride, I was really eager to get back out again. Around lunch time, I decided to head out and ride as long as I could. The temperature was great, upper 70′s again but it was a bit windy.
Shortly after heading out I realized it was going to be a pretty uncomfortable ride. Staying in aero position helped so I rode that way as much as I could and I ended up only doing an hour ride.
Hoping to get in some long runs this week and I also plan on checking out a local pool to see if it will work for swimming some laps. Looks like San Antonio is going to be a great training city!
Holy cow…I can’t believe how long it’s been since I have blogged. A lot has happened in the past few months and I have really gotten away from blogging. Short story is that I got a great job opportunity and relocated to San Antonio. Over the past several weeks, I have moved (just myself…family to follow after school is out) and I am pretty much settled now.
Today was great day because I finally found a great place to ride my bike. It’s a 30 minute trip, but it’s a perfect course to train for IMFL. The body is a bit sore but I am eager to get back out there! The only minor downside to the ride is that some of the rural roads are a bit rough.
I am very excited to dive back into some more serious training now that I have my life a little more steady-state.
Back on track with a great effort on the cycle tonight. Again, still very positive and I still feel very motivated.
As I mentioned in my weekly summary, last week was not good and I put on a few pounds as a result. This week, I will not only have to achieve my normal weekly weight loss, but make up for the weight I put on last week too. All good…just gonna keep moving forward.
Ok, I admit it…I fell off the wagon this week. Only a couple of workouts and didn’t eat as well as I could have. Having a party on Friday set me back a good bit in the weight-loss area.
Not going to stress about this week at all. I am still very focused and there is still a long time until my first event in March.
On the road traveling so a little extra discipline is going to be required this week. I have done fine so far, but there are going to be some business lunches/dinners to come, so I will have to focus on eating well.
Managed to make it down to the hotel gym to get in a 3 mile run. Really didn’t feel like it at all because I had work to do…but I forced myself to get down there. Definitely don’t want to have another week like last week.
Ok…not the best of weeks, but still made forward progress on the weight-loss front. Less than 5lbs to be under 200 once again!
I had a minor medical procedure on Thur with a prep all day Wed, so that really affected the workout schedule. Betting planning would have probably allowed me to get in a couple more workouts, but I’ll just charge ahead and put this not-so-great week behind me.
Got in a great 3 mile run today at least…felt really strong for the first half but bonked a bit towards the end. I thought my time on the treadmill was done, but this damn weather just doesn’t want to cooperate. Go away cold weather!!!
Took a couple of days off and had a slight increase in weight as a result. I’ll be working out the rest of the week so I should still have a good 2-3lb drop by the end of the week.
Got in a good run this afternoon, only 3 miles but I felt very strong the whole time and had one of the best paces thus far.
We got to do an awesome show on Triathlete.FM last night with Dick Hoyt from Team Hoyt. What an amazing human being! If you’re not familiar with the story of Dick and his son Rick, you should definitely listen to the interview.
Another great week down and I am once again pleased with what I accomplished this week.
Weight-loss to this point is 7lbs which is about 3.5lbs per week. In the past, I targeted around 2lbs per week so I am really happy with how things are going. The great thing is that I am not starving myself or doing ridiculous workouts. Can’t wait to be under 200lbs soon!
Did just under an hour on the bike this afternoon and I am incredibly anxious to get back outside. A good deal of the snow has melted which means I should be able to venture outside for a run tomorrow. However, my legs are pretty tired from two days of running/biking so tomorrow may be a rest day.
On to week 11!
I decided to go from 5 workouts to 4 this week and do a couple longer sessions. My left foot and ankle were getting a bit fatigued during my runs so I wanted to see if an extra day of rest helped.
Got in a great 5 mile run today, although, it almost ended up being another 3 miler. Around 25 mins in, I really started to hit a wall. Luckily, prior to my workout, I used a vanilla Hammer gel pack and it kicked in at just the right time. My foot bothered me a bit for the first two miles but I felt fine as I kept running.
Looks like it’s going be another successful week.
